Course aims: The aim of the Focus Awards Level 2 Award in Skin Care and Facial Treatments (RQF) is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding to safely provide facial treatments to clients.
During the qualification learners will learn the skills required to practice health and safety in a salon environment, gain suitable communication skills to care for clients and learn about the facial anatomy and physiology, legislation of products for skin care, prepare for and provide skin care information and facials to clients.

You will be taught:
- How to set up a treatment area
- How to consult with a client
- Skin analysing
- Skin disorders
- Tools to select and how to use them
- Maintaining and improving facial skin condition using exfoliation, skin warming, comedone extraction, facial massage, mask treatments and facial moisturising products
- Anatomy, physiology and pathology
- Health and safety
Course Structure: This qualification is internally assessed. Much of the qualification is completed as home-study, including written and practical coursework making this an ideal route for those who wish to study flexibly around other commitments.
Once you have completed your theory and some written assignments, you will then attend a 1 day practical training day, working on at least 3 models.
After this you will complete and submit 3 case studies. Once these have been approved, you will need to conduct 3 observations (can be done face to face or via Zoom).
You will need access to a computer and Word (or equivalent).
Kit: You will need a kit to complete your case studies and observations which will include:
Products: Eye Make-Up Remover, Cleanser(s), Exfoliator, Toner(s), Mask(s), Moisturiser(s), Eye Cream/Gel, Massage medium, Serum(s), SPF
Equipment: Milia needles, Magnifying lamp, Skin warming device (steamer, hot towel cabinet, hot towels)
