Course aims: Focus Awards Level 3 Diploma in Massage is aimed at those learners who are looking to develop their practical skills in body massage, along with pre-blended aromatherapy oils, Indian head massage and stone therapy massage.  In addition, you will be developing your knowledge in the origins of massage and the principles of complementary and alternative medicine.

Qualification Structure:
To successfully achieve the Focus Awards Level 3 Diploma in Massage Therapy, learners must complete all the mandatory units, totalling 52 credits

This course covers:
Explore the origins of massage and principles of complementary and alternative  medicine

  • The  development and diversity of massage
  • The differences between complementary, alternative and allopathic medicine
  • Progression routes when working in complementary and alternative medicine

Prepare for and provide  body massage
Prepare and carry out massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils
Prepare and provide Indian head massage

Client care and communication in beauty-related industries

  • Communicate and behave in a professional manner when dealing with clients
  • Manage client expectations

Monitor and maintain health and safety practice

Course Structure: This Focus Award Level 3 Diploma in Massage Therapy is internally assessed.

All of theory, including written assignments will be done as home study.

You will complete the body massage theory and once complete, you will have 2 full days of practical training, working on lots of models.  After this you consolidate your learning by completing 5 case studies and once complete, you will need to perform 3 observations.

You then move onto the theory for stone therapy massage and once complete, have a full day of practical training, working on lots of models.  This will be followed by 3 case studies and 4 observations.

The final unit is Indian head massage and once you have completed your theory, you will have a full day of practical training, followed by 3 case studies and 3 observations.

You will then work your way through the theory for pre-blended aromatherapy oils, complete 3 case studies and then perform 3 observations. 

All observations can be conducted face to face or via Zoom.

You will need access to a computer and Word (or equivalent).

Kit: You will need a kit to complete your case studies and observations which will include a range of massage oils, massage creams, powder, gel, wax/balm and pre-blended oils.

Equipment: You will need a massage couch, couch roll, towels, hot stone kit (basalt, marine, marble and semi-precious stones).

If you would like help in sourcing your kit, your trainer would be delighted to assist you.

Support is available from your tutor should you require it.
